Pentagrams were used symbolically in ancient Greece and Babylonia.  They are used today as a symbol of faith by man Wiccans, akin to the use of the cross by Christians. The five points represent the five elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Metal.  It is commonly seen as a symbol for good and for protection against evil.
